04/06/14 – Oak Hill Shrimping Report Florida

Capt Lee enjoys shrimping in Oak Hill Florida, the shrimping Capital of Florida. Her reports are both informative and educational.

MacDaddy 3 light deployment

MacDaddy 3 light deployment

My shrimping lights I used were (two) GW 75/75 MacDaddy (150 Led’s) with the green and white strip. I fired off both strips.

My light configuration was 9pm and 3 pm set. Imagine looking at a clock. Look at numbers 1 and 2 of the diagram.

I deploy a sacrificial light at 6 pm (note number 3 on diagram) to blow up the fat daddy’s from the bottom. I sink the light really low and do not rely on this light to dip.

Tired and with shrimp eyes….took Fish On and myself till 1 am, wind was gale force, never laid down, barometer in 29.xx, tide weakest and lazy at half moon, grass dimming lights. Conditions extreme, 80% boats off water by 11 pm. Chop causing 1 foot rollers S of Lopez. Boaters beat up

Having gone to hell last night we threw done for a slice of heaven.

It was the MacDaddy shrimp lights and my extreme condition light set that gave us the bucket. Frame net off pipe. Suspended Shumaker frame net with galvanized chain only right off the side of my boat.

So much to share…but….. I’m spent.

Here is the video of the shrimp next morning, we been wanting to show social media friends what 5 gallons looks like other than from a distance in a bucket. So we used our catch from this night..
