Sea Worthy Posts: 194 01/23/12 03:28 PM - 1 Limits 2011	Bruce I asked a game warden once and he said you can not take oysters from the New Smyrna area for consumption. He said they had higher levels of contaminants but I don't know why if you can take them just down the river. Same water goes thru there.

Sea Worthy Posts: 16 01/30/12 03:15 PM	Don't forget that the state tests the waters around the state for fecal colliform bacteria and you cannot see this no mater how clear the water is. Best bet if it is closed don't eat them this will make you very ill.

Sea Worthy Posts: 13 01/30/12 05:10 PM	south of edgwater before you can harvest them and you need to check daily for closures fwc has links for shelfish with maps of areas allowed no oysters north of edwater are allowed,3" size on shell and 2- 5 gallon buckets or 1 bushel per person 2 bushel per boat I believe,but check the rules for yourself.Ive taken some this year and last year also with no ill affect,they close it after rainfalls
