Here is a new twist on dip nets. I just picked up this net from Ron O'Brien who exhibits every SUNDAY at the Oak Hill Flea market between 7:30am and 1pm. He is the brilliant gent who invented the collapsible frame net which will be the prize for the on-line shrimp tournament from April to May 15th.
This is my NEW net, and it is the power dipper net. This hoop has a 4 inch mesh net fence and you can see this fence by looking for the green circle of thread. This keeps ShrimpZilla from rimming the net and jumping out. The current will open the sock and will leave this 4" fence in place to keep the shrimp from crawling out or back flipping out.
It is a border of sorts inside the hoop attached to the aluminum hoop. It irks me when the jumbo's rim and jump out of the net. This was designed to stop the loss of the 'Zilla who pulls a rim shot back to freedom.
Yes, the dipping opening is smaller when you have a fence. Pretty neat, huh? If ya hate the fence, you can remove it real easy. Ron O' Brien is the man for dip nets, nylon or mono casting nets, and the CFN's [collapsible frame net].
