MANTIS Shrimp VIDEO - Be CAREFUL They Can Hurt YOU |

|
If you use a frame net the day will come where you will have a mantis shrimp in your harvest. They are easily dipped as well. Folks do NOT realize how dangerous they are and end up getting hurt. A mantis shrimp is capable of breaking the glass in an aquarium if held captive. They strike at the same force as a shotgun blast.

Excellent site! Thanks Frankk.
Their claw cans strike at 51.1 miles per hour thru water. Fisherman refer to them as "thumb-busters" because they can shatter the bones in your thumb. There is another version of mantis that are called "slashers" cuz' of the barbs on their front legs. Their front legs are spring loaded which un-leash the devastating power and this is where they are said to be as fast as a bullet fired from a hand gun. So much force is released from this front claws hammer, that they emit "light". As for eating, it won't hurt you but folks say it is repulsive. Some eat it as "sushi" in Japan, and Italy dines on this as well. Mantis have a proclivity to urinating in the pot while cooking. Ok, so who wants to eat?
