It's time to start planning our annual cast net seminar. I'm looking at the month of July which is just around the corner. We will hold this on a Saturday so the working people can have a chance to participate. The dates I'm looking at are: 9th, 16th, 23rd, and 30th. The 2nd is out because of the 4th of july holiday weekend madness. My vote is for the 23rd. I think that later in the month will be better than earlier since the shrimp haven't started to really start running yet. I'd like to give them some more time.
Last year we launched at Veteran's Memorial Park near Big Tree in South Daytona, but then we had to go to another park in South Daytona to cook. This year I think we're going to look at Bethune Point Park in Daytona. I believe we can stay there at the park for everything we want to do.
Our schedule last year went something like this:
7:30am - meet at the ramp for cast net throwing lessons and fish finder setup suggestions
8:00am - launch boats to go shrimping
11:30am - recover boats
12:00pm - begin covered dish picnic, boil/fry some of our fresh catch from the morning
1:00pm - raffle prizes called, general storytelling and announcements
