I want to show you the "overkill" I deploy on a 17ft skiff to ensure I do NOT slide backwards into other boats. I have had my fair share of sliding and when I deploy a box net, it takes (2) plow anchors to stick [especually around full/new moons]. I set up horizontal in the water, and here are my anchors:

These are my oldest ISAA lights, and I have placed a yardstick to show you the size, over the years the ISAA.CC club has reduced these lights to 18" inch bulbs and 1/2 the diameter and weight. I have minn kota trolling motor plugs on my earlier lights. I have 2 of the new generation ISAA lights and I use 50amp clips. I have 33 ft. cords on my earlier lights and 50 ft cords on my more recent lights.

At the end of the light is an adjustable stainless O-ring, and on that o-ring I attached a brass clip and a depth line. I like to make my depth lines 17 ft, and I have a stainless steel 1" ring about every foot or so....I did not do exact measurements. The line is 1/4" in diameter thick that I bought at a marine surplus store. The spaced out rings allows me to shorten my line when I dip in shallower water, or lengthen my line in deep water. Sometimes, I do NOT want my lights on the bottom to keep the catfish warm who lay on them.

At the very end of the depth line I attach a 8lb pyramid weight.

You can buy these stainless rings at Lowe's, and you can use whatever you want and do NOT even have to use rings. To each his own, everybody does it different. As long as you can adjust your line, that is a perfect system to use!
