I've been waiting for a reason to go down to the S. bridge pier after dark and see if there's any action and what the action was. Since I had the vision of shrimp dancing thru my head and couldn't sleep, I headed down to the pier about 11:30ish. Saw some green lights glowing in the water and found one fella with 2 small florescent 15 watt screw in bulbs in the water and NO shrimp. In the circle was Cap't Ron with a dip net that looked 200' long. He assured me it was only 20'. We chatted for 30-45 minutes and waited for any shrimp to show up. One finally sacrificed itself to the net but they must still be recovering from New Years partying because they sure weren't swimming.
HOWEVER, in the circle were a couple fellas fishing with live shrimp under a cork. They had caught easily 7-8 nice fat trout and a few blues. Sounds like a good backup plan if the shrimp are not running.
