If the picture was NOT flattering, eyes were shut, weird facial expressions, poor lighting, blurred etc., the pics DO NOT get posted. I do not believe in posting pics that are not flattering or lack artistic value. I did not shoot many pictures on the water, it was a hard to keep the camera dry and keep Alan safe on the bow. I wish I was able to get more of our members photographed but I retired the camera to focus on sonar. I did sneak up on many with a zoom lense, this is how I was able to get these action shots. If anyone wants the high rez of their photo let me know, these are compressed and low quality for posting purposes only. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I am unpacking my truck and got to clean up the boat and back it up onto slab. So I will be back to post more, I wanted to get these pictures up before I started doing the truck and boat. In the event I crash and burn on sofa and do not make it back tonight at least the pictures are up.
Alan and I launched from Big tree, and we did a solid 2 gallons and 95% of them were jumbo, all 6-7 inches. The run was lean, we had to pick them off slowly 5-20 per cast, and many casts all big pogies or other bait fish. I managed to try to sink my boat, I forgot to put in the 2 brass garboard plugs in and the boat was taking on water for over 40 minutes. RetiredMrBill spotted this emergency and many members went into action to save my boat from going to the bottom. We did get it back to the ramp 35 yards away, pull it out on to trailer and opened 2 scuppers,1 drain plug and the culprit open brass holes and it gushed out. Buttoned it up, let it go and went on and had a super day! I love you guys and gals, you know this don't you?? We are a team, we can pull off get togethers with no planning and everyone pitched in and the event went off awesome. I do not believe in micro managing or planning events until stale. A little bizzare methodolgy tho', you had to catch your food if you wanted to eat today ![]() . We all feasted, huh?THANK-YOU to each and every one of you! We got the 'Mojo, and today was so much fun! You all give back so much for the club, and face it, we are stuck with one another! We will do more "mini's" in the future. Ok, let me go flush my boat engine and get moving while I still have light and the temps are down. We feasted on Daytona shrimp and Oak Hill Shrimp for a taste test today to answer the nagging question, which is better? Oakie shrimp [winter shrimp] or Daytona shrimp [summer shrimp]? Let me put up a poll and let you vote on-line. Then I will tell you at the feast, how the voting went...

Just super, supper pictures!
I especially like the one with the cast netter off the Carolina J16 skiff in the background and a Brown pelican in the foreground! Priceless! Most of the pictures looked like out takes from Alfred Hitchcock The Birds! Great to hear that you all had a great time and they sound like some good sized shrimp you were all catching! Sounds like a complete win, win, win to me. I'm just sorry I wasn't there with you all. I was but only in spirit! Another five weeks and I will be there! |

I can't add any more than what has already been posted. I can say I had a great time meeting all my new friends who previously I had only talked to via the website. My arms and shoulders are sore since I only do this type of activity once in a while. Thank you to Alleve my new friend. I can't wait for cooler weather and for our Oak Hill bugs to return.

![]() Thanks to Capt. Lee and all who help co-ordinate this mini-event! Glenda and I were running a little late this morning so we headed straight to the Granada (SR 40) ramp in Ormond. We didn't see any boats south of the bridge so we headed north. We were in 5-7 foot of water, sometimes getting a couple shrimp, sometimes none. About twenty boats started to cluster around marker 18 at about ten o'clock, so we headed out there and started throwing. I was getting 6 to 8 shrimp per cast and it was hard to leave with shrimp still coming into the boat. Even though I was only throwing a duct taped 5' net, we still managed over a gallon of shrimp. When I got back to the boat ramp this little snowy egret was on the dock begging for a hand out. I couldn't resist tossing him a small shrimp, and I think it was one of only small shrimp we got. Most were mediums, but we had a mix of large and jumbos, too! Thanks to Fishin'bro who brought Cobia, Dolphin, and Tripletail. I had never tasted Tripletail before, man...it was incredible ! ! ! Thanks to Newken, too, who provided some hammerhead shark that he caught. The shark bites were VERY good! And, thanks to everyone who helped clean the shrimp we fried and boiled! That was great!!! |

Good Morning Day After!
Last night, I read Friday's News-Journal and in the fishing section our seminar was talked about as a News event in the local area. It read like this: "Shrimping Seminar" Capt. Lee Noga is leading a free seminar on cast-net shrimping followed by a cast net outing and then a cook-out at 7am Saturday at Riverfront Park, 1933 Palmetto Ave, S. Daytona. For more info go to leenoga.com What a nice surprise from Jordan Kahn! If 500 ppl would have shown up we would have never understood why ... ![]() ![]() So many thanks for all the hands that pitched in popping heads & deveining etc! NewKen cast netted & cleaned sharks and Capt Frank battered them up into nuggets. There were many people who are now converted to eating fresh fried shark! I think it caught folks by surprise how delicious they are if cooked fresh. FishingBro brought triple tail, dolphin, cobia and slaved over the coleman stove to many folks delight! So many people were savoring fish they never got to taste. Several folks commented they need to be "rolled" out of the pavilion. Then Carol brought home made cookies, and others brought some sides and snacks. The main course was fresh seafood. We were stuffed. I am not a fish eater but love crustacean and shellfish. FishinBro hooked me up with a nice chunk of smoked pork shoulder. I had an awesome sandwich with some last night and YUMMY! He smoked it for 7 hours....OMG....it was heaven! THANK-YOU 'Bro. ![]() ![]()
