Just got a report from FISH ON who ran into a New Smyrna Beach neighbor on her way back from Home Depot. The word is the shrimp are swarming in Edgewater and they are LARGES.

Due to the late tides in Oak Hill, many of us will choos Edgewater because we get more shrimping time.

BUT.

Having shrimp swarming in the area is a bonus! I will let you know Monday morning how we did in Edgewater.

It is 6:30am, and I wanted to log on real quick to let you know we went back out 2 nights in a row and harvested 2 gallons. It was definitely better than Thurs night, and we are real pleased about the amount of large and jumbo's.

The wind was S.E. the warm front passed thru and the tide seemed to have changed a little early. The shrimp did nothing for about 3 hours and about 2:30am, the little rascals moved. Some boaters packed it in after the initial first half of the tide "skunk". We dipped non-stop for about 2 hours with sweat pouring down our cheeks.

The water was dirty and never cleared up. There was a lot of debris in the murky water all tide. We deployed a frame net after we relocated to a new location in the same area. When we retrieved the frame-net the bottom was open and ALL the shrimp escaped our clutches. The plastic tube end we put on the tip was missing.

Our dear friends also dipped nearby us and we had a chance to chat, and we all transitioned...

Ok, Ok, Ok....I goofed and put my Edgewater report in the OAK HILL forum....LOL...over tired....motor on over and read it there.

We did what most everyone in the area did, give or take 1/2 - 1 gallon. The commercial wing-netters did 2 gallons who SUPER HUGE nets, so ouor nice 1 gallon was on mark. Those that stayed in North Edgewater on the New Smyrna line, got spanked and did not do as well as those folks who harvested in SOUTH Edgewater...put some pics up....NOW Git' :-)

Anyhoo, go read it....and I will be romancing Edgewater tonight as well, the moon is full, the current is strong, and the weather warm, and winds will be blowing out of SE.

Got my red bull and prepping now for tonight. I am NOT in Edgewater because that is where the pod has landed, I am ONLY harvesting in Edgewater because i get more dip time due to the early morning tide change...I want as close to 6 hours of dipping as I can get..so to do that, I have to do Edgewater but I will be on the...

The shrimp are on the move, I have gotten numerous reports that the shrimp are everywhere in the ICW. Most people and including myself are zoned into Edgewater because of how the tides fall this week. There has been great success from Edgewater ramp to South of Riverbreeze ramp.

There is just NOT a bad spot. There have been reports that the winds are blowing boats off their lights and blowing boats into other boats. I highly recommend using a decent anchor during the moon, the waters are going to get congested with boats. If your going to deploy a boxnet, make sure you can "stick" and will not drift backwards.

There is NO appreciable activity for recreational shrimpers in the Edgewater area.

Tip.

Read the Oakhill reports, if the movement has begun South, they will make their way to Edgewater with 1-2 days of the Oakhill report.

I have received reports that small amounts of shrimp are moving through .. my sources are talking measurement in the form of "dozens" and not
gallons. The sizes are mixed, and my sources say they are smaller than this time last year.

My response...it is going to get better...

Folks are seen dipping off the piers/structure all over the river from Lopez to NSB.
