It was like sitting on a farm pond. The water clarity was crystal clean. It was so clean that i only used one light and i pinned it to the bottom and it was still super bright. The shrimp were real nervous last night and would spook at the least little movement or sound. I dipped most of my shrimp last night on the dark side of the boat as they were hitting my light field and then swimming across my bow to the other side. Around 11pm the current went from barely moving to a locomotive and clouded up some. The whiting are in the surf and the sand trap inside the inlet. One pompano has been caught by a fisherman and one by the osprey that is nesting in a tree behind the house. The general rule is the NEW moon and the FULL moon are "spring tides" which means the Earth bulges and the water level is higher [causes 3 degree tilt]. When more water comes into the river, the water creates a force on it's exit [strong ripping current]. THIS is a great thing for shrimp to get them moving. I set up on the south side of cm 8. The water depth was anywhere between 8-11 feet. It all depended on the wind/current. I could throw the anchor and be anywhere from 6-13feet. So it was a pronounced edge.  At the most I had 7 boats in the area and they were all spread out. Only 2 of us set up on the west side. Now I want to thank everyone on this site for helping me get ready for these shrimp but you forgot to mention a few things. :) 1- That little bastard is QUICK 2- They Got excellent eyesight 3- They can backflip/or swim outa the net faster than you can pull it out Once i figured to more or less just let them swim into the net then pull the trigger on em I was OK. I missed the first 10 trying to figure it out. Between what i missed and what i had get back out the net I think I could have done 2 gallons last night.
